Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Not only is online therapy convenient and time-efficient, but it also creates access to specialized treatment that was previously inaccessible for most folks. Historically, the only option for many people with anxiety and OCD was to receive treatment from professionals who are not specifically trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Unfortunately, well-meaning therapists without specialized training can often make anxiety and OCD worse.

While some people are understandably hesitant to try virtual therapy, the good news is that research has repeatedly found that online therapy is equally, if not more effective as therapy conducted in person. Virtual ERP treatment follows the same evidence-based interventions as ERP treatment conducted in-person, which have been proven to effectively treat anxiety and OCD.

How long does treatment last?

Edge Anxiety Treatment strives to make therapy as effective and efficient as possible. Progress toward your defined therapeutic goals will be assessed frequently. As you conquer the challenges that led you to start treatment and gain the skills to become your own anxiety coach, we will discuss the process of terminating therapy.

What is the cost of therapy and do you accept insurance?

The rate for a standard 50-minute session is $240. While all session fees must be paid in full at the time of service, if you have PPO insurance, our therapy services may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement as part of your "out-of-network" benefits. To help facilitate out-of-network claims, we will provide you with a statement called a "superbill," which will include all of the necessary information to submit to your insurance company.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. In your first session, we will cover your history and symptoms and develop an effective and unique treatment plan. I will likely have preliminary homework or suggestions at the end of the initial session. It is typically recommended that we meet weekly at the start of the therapy to gain structure and momentum for the treatment, and then taper to meet less frequently as you build skills and confidence to practice homework on your own between sessions.

How long are sessions and how frequently will we meet?

We will meet for our sessions on a secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual platform called Doxy. All data is encrypted, your sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored. There is no need to download any special software or app. Just use your Chrome or Safari browser on a computer, tablet, smartphone, or any device with a camera and microphone.
